A Colourful Chelsea Kitchen by John Lewis of Hungerford

Towards the end of Summer, we were asked to capture some images of this colourful Chelsea kitchen for John Lewis of Hungerford. The location was incredible being only a stone’s throw away from the Thames and the architecture of a London townhouse is just always irresistible so obviously, it was a no brainer. To make it even better, Rebecca from JLH made a special trip to Gail’s Bakery on the corner of Kings Road to get some ‘props’ which were promptly consumed after the shoot.

This shaker kitchen by John Lewis of Hungerford uses the earthy colours of Autumn to create a warm space that oozes personality. Absolutely love the pops of ochre yellow on the back wall and inside the glass cabinet. Yellow can be a really joyful and stimulating colour to have in your home and it looks like this homeowner isn’t afraid to combine colours to give life to functional spaces. The floor to ceiling joinery in this deep dark green will stand the test of time and provide much-needed storage in this compact kitchen.

Favourite detailing in this kitchen include the chunky shelf made from the same material as the work surface - perfect for layers of styling. This homeowner had some really lovely greenery and accessories to display and play around with to create the perfect “shelfie”. This worked so well with the detailing in the window above, the architectural curve of the arch leading through to the hallway and the colour blocking on the walls. Another feature that caught our eye was the tongue and groove end panelling and the single larder. Just clever ways to add texture and sophistication to the design and provide the ever sought after larder when space is limited. The designer really impressed us with this one!
